Assalamualaikum and hi,
A good man. He never fails to make me laugh. His way of living is very simple.
When he was bored, he will draw. He's good at drawing
I remembered this one time, he brought me to the place where he was born. I don't know why but when I looked at that empty abandoned house, there's this urge inside of me saying that I must take great care of the house.
And one question that still lingers in my head is, why me? Why did he bring me there? Alone. He was the one that drove the car (even though he was weak at that time) and I was just sitting beside him feeling confused throughout the journey.
Not so long after that, he was admitted to the hospital because of lung complications. I don't know what type of complications that he had but I do know it's bad.
I'm lucky though, having the chance to take care of him. I assure you it was a good experience, Sitting there, inside the hospital, makes you realize how fragile you are when you're old.
It makes you less arrogant, more self-conscious. Leaves you deep in thought. That mixed feelings of you are healthy and are able to do anything with I will be fragile, if not now, later.
That moment was a real lesson for me. The way it taught me just melt inside my head much better than if I were in class.
I was about to have an exam on that morning when I got the news of him taking his last breath at dawn. Yeah, time really stopped and what's in my mind is how lucky I am to have the chance of taking care of him at the hospital.
He is my grandfather. Loving, Yusof Yaakub.
