Patience Is A Virtue : Why I Didn't Share My Posts To Social Media

Possible interpretation : The ability to wait for something without getting angry or upset.

From : https://www.englishclub.com/ref/esl/Sayings/P/Patience_is_a_virtue_905.htm

I can use all types of social media to promote this blog. But I prefer not to.

I prefer waiting. Inviting readers to read for the pure joy of reading. To gain some knowledge (even in some parts it's not useful).

To seed a feeling of what new things that I write today, and comes back to this blog when they are bored.

Sending links and promoting here and there without having enough content to read is useless.

You may get a lot of readers but is that true readers?

I am writing on behalf of my deep passion to write.

Am I upset with the low readers? No. Just reminding myself.

Will I ever promote about my blog on social media? Yes. On 27th September 2016.

For the readers that come again to this blog, day after day. Thank you, your silent support is appreciated.

7 Simple Tips on How To Be An MC (for beginners)

Hi there friend, this will be a long post. But I will try to make it not boring provided that today is Sunday.

If you read posts from other blog, they will share their experience by using time-frame.

For me, I prefer to deliver it in a story-like way. Because we learn better through storytelling and simple communication.

It was Saturday, and I am very tired from revising my script yesterday. But hey, work is work no matter how tired you are. Also, I’m not working alone so I really got to give my best.

I arrived at Pullman Hotel pretty much around 10.00 am. Pretty early as I have to take my blazer from dry-cleaning. I made a mistake by sending to the laundry a bit late. I don’t know it takes three days to dry-clean a blazer. So I had to pay extra because I want it early.

Tip #1 : Make sure your clothes are in check 2 days before the event.

I am not late I guess. Seeing my work partner just arrived, we quickly go into the Hall and revise our script. The script has changed. But I am not surprised as it has happened a few times. Just another hurdle I have to go through.

Tip #2 : Be prepared for changes. There are always changes.

The event starts at 8.00 pm, so our day time are filled with practice and rehearsals. We did a few rehearsals at our university, but it is quite different here at the Hall. The environment made me nervous a little bit. A little bit.

Tip #3 : Adapt to the environment.

During the practice, I actually have a slight pain in my throat. This is due to the practice. I give my best at the wrong moment. It is not wrong to give your best during the practice, but it is much smarter to save your voice and give it all during the events.

And for my throat, I didn’t tell anybody as I was scared they will get worried. Kind of my habit I guess.

Tip #4 : The event need your voice. Do not give it all during your practice, save it.

I reduced my talking and only talks when in practice. The pain is gone in around 1 hour and after that I controlled my voice during the full rehearsal. Talking about full rehearsal, there is a lot of changes. Again and again, changes. But I didn’t mind.

I were allowed to prepare at 6.00 pm. During that time, I didn’t bother to check my script because I know there will be changes and I don’t want to rely heavily on the script. Relying on the script will give you a hard time if changes happen and you already memorized your script.

Tip #5 : Script may help you, but do not rely heavily on it.

At 7.00 pm I was scared. The Vice-Chancellor will come and there will be other VIP. What if I messed up?

I made an announcement by telling the guests to have a seat because the VIP have arrived. Yes, I messed up. I felt my tongue split into half. I lose confidence and all I know is to finish my sentence as early as possible.

My MC partner, Fina, helped ease my nervousness. I took some time to cool down and this time I can say I’m ready.

Tip #6 : Cool down and take some time before you start speaking.

All the practice and rehearsals has made it easy for me in being a MC. I really encourage you to practice a lot as it will make you feel the event felt like you were practicing.

Tip #7 : Practice, practice and practice.

The event went well and everyone thanked me and Fina. There are a lot of praises but it’s hard to take it because I did not do it alone. The committee did most of the work and all I did was talk.

But of course, we are very happy the job is finally done!

There is some slight mistakes, drama and changes during the event but again, I didn’t mind. I expected that to happen.

But, I would like to thank all the people that has helped me. Shu (supervisor) and Fina ( MC partner) in particular. And all other people that allowed me to be a MC.

There you go, my experience as well as some tips for you. For those that never tried this roles, seriously try it! You will gain something and there is nothing to lose.

And to those who are reading this post because they are about to be an MC and doesn't know what to do, Good Luck !

Newspaper Blackout

Hi there readers! I am excited to tell you that after 27th of September, new thing will be uploaded into this blog. A newspaper blackout, which was inspired by Austin Kleon.

I can explain more in long sentence about Newspaper Blackout, but I guess it is better for you guys to see it first. And, I am not much of a theory person.

I don’t see any strong need for posting it on Instagram as I feel readers of this blog is much more special.

And I am not planning to be active on Instagram right now.

If any of you see I’m posting it on Instagram, that is just a tiny bit of it. There is many more for readers of this blog.

And in any way, you guys are my first priority other than Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. (In which I had stopped Twitter for a year, read here for more info)

So, see you there on 27th September !

Be Water, My Friend (Life Lesson from Bruce Lee)

One of my favourite martial artist, influenced by my father, was Bruce Lee. And I would like to share one of his quote was:

“Be like water,
Empty your mind, Be formless shapeless – like water.

Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup;
You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle;
You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot;
Now water can flow or it can crash,

Be water, my friend
-Bruce Lee

And why I suddenly quote him is because recently this blog has changed it’s domain to ‘.my’ instead of ‘.com’. The main reason I did this blog is not only to share with people from Malaysia but to everyone in the world.

Now you see, when the domain is changed to ‘.my’, it will particularly targeted my post to people in Malaysia. Whereas if the domain is ‘.com’, my post will be easily available for other people not in Malaysia. It is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) thingy.

But, as the quote tells to “be like water”, I will try to add element from my beloved country, Malaysia and from the rest of the world.

I won’t give up to continue adding content this blog even though it has been quite a while since I last updated.

Blog makeover #1

I guess it is time to create this segment.

I am currently doing a blog makeover. This is my drawing.

Ugly, but that’s me!

And I learn something new, that is to create sub-menu. But mine is not so cool.

I did all the makeover testing on my 2nd blog (http://faarhanfaizaltest.blogspot.my/) so that I don’t messing things up in this blog as messing up is my primary daytime job.

Action Starts With Mindset

What a cliché tittle.

Once I tweeted about one being able to do many things despite having many responsibilities.

My friend asked me whether I am sure of what I just tweeted. Of course not.

It is hard to do many things with gadgets that brings vast information around us.

But isn’t our action starts from our mind?

If my mind says I cannot do it. Don’t even bother to put effort, you really can’t.

But letting my mind thinks “if one can do it, why not me?”

I understand that sometimes we have doubts in what we are doing.

It is normal to have doubts but don’t bother thinking about it.

With the right mind-set, we can achieve our goal.

If any of you guys reading this have something to achieve but are in doubts with yourself, stay there and keep on working towards your dream.

It may took some time, but you will get there.

Blog Review By Famous Author : Aiman Azlan

Recently I did something crazy. Asking Aiman Azlan to review my blog.

Funny, I rarely think in doing something. Too bold I guess.

But, hey, he REPLIED !

And the comment are really in-depth to the extend that I felt guilty. Guilty of asking people to do a review of this sluggish blog. Negative much ?

Nevertheless, I felt happy. A person that have succeeded in publishing books ( Hidup Penuh Erti and The Other Side Of The Coin ) and has given many speeches, reviewed my blog!

I like comments. And he did a great job on commenting.

For me, I am more pumped to keep writing and gives ideas. Thank you Aiman.

Upgrading

Hi there, I am happy to share that this blog will get an update pretty soon.

( I'm slowly learning how to use Adobe Illustrator )

Even though I have very few readers, I just feel that you guys should be entertained.

For readers out there that use feedly (news application), you might not see the changes because all we see is only plain text.

But I will keep the content fun to read and mind-shifting. Which is my favourite thing to do. To change mindset.

Stay tuned!

Till Death Do Us Apart : Life Lesson from Mak

I am currently at Johor, visiting both my grandparents. Alone.

I didn’t plan my whole week of holiday to be here. And maybe the holiday planned something for me.

Discussing about life and death with my Mak (my grandmother), she told me some of her interesting story.

Mak was fortunate to have her wish granted. It was to be beside her parents during their last breath.

It was her wish since she was little.

Watching someone dying in front of her eyes has created an indescribable  feeling of awareness.

That kind of struck me deep.

At our age right now, I believe we are still living in a dream. Gadgets, music, drama and other stuff.

That is not particularly wrong. Even for some people, it is their needs.

But what I am trying to share is, while having all those stuff clouded in our minds, put some thoughts about life and death.

Visit the people you need to. Interact to people that are close to you.

Stop being obsessive in things that matters less.

Start putting life and death inside your mind. Let it grow inside your brain and helps you in your daily action.

Continue what you are doing but at the same time have some thoughts about life and death. Or maybe just…

Death.

Beauty Exist In Little Things

I believe beauty exist in little things.

There was this ted talk :

About brain misdirection. How our eyes did not catch something that we see everyday.

“The things that you look at everyday, that you’re blinded to”

Without looking at your phone, can you remember the icon top right at your phone right now?”

I have no idea. I don’t know what is there.

I’m not scared of that unknowing what is inside my phone. I’m scared of how many things I missed from last hour, last minute, even last second.

How many information are just going through our brain without getting appreciated.

I may be overthinking but thinking is how you grow. Overthink is what solves the problem and beauty is everywhere.

Beauty is in every tiny part of your life. That little part of something. That detail.

Designer believes in great detail. Even the devils are in for the detail.

Mistakes Is Beautiful

Sometimes people make mistakes. But it is not shown anywhere. You cannot trace them.

Sometimes a single tiny mistake is passed from mouth to mouth.

Unknowing the truth of the rumors. Each person has their own version of the story.

Always be cautious when hearing, reading, watching other peoples’ mistakes.

The purpose of human being seeing others makes mistakes is to learn from it.

It could come from animal, weather or even mountains and rocks.

Avoid it. Advising it if you have the capability.

Gossiping and making judgements with your circles are the most disgusting way to see mistakes.

Mistakes is beautiful.

It has it’s own nature of being a warning for other person that sees it.

What does warnings do to you? It helps you. Those signboards telling “DANGER AHEAD”. That’s just one, there is more.

Everything connects and have its own purpose of existing. It’s up to you to realise them.

The world would have been perfect if all mistakes are taken for self-reflection. Not self-entertainment.

Is The Tittle at Your Name Suits You?

That tittle at the end of your name, only limits you.

The tittle may help you in gaining reputation. But then, what?

A tittle is like a chain, hanging to your name, preventing you from being free.

Free to do whatever you like and whatever you can.

The name itself is a power. Adding things to something that is already so powerful will only reduce its ability.

Ability to bring yourself to a higher level.

What is it? Is it your ego? Don’t let it conquer you.

How I Can Help You : Dealing with Haters

I spent a lot of time on YouTube and watching videos may bore you. So I like going through the comments.

It’s harsh.

As harsh as it can get. It kills in every aspect of the YouTuber.

But looking at them, and how much views they gained, I don’t think the comment suits.

It is not building at all. Sometimes, it’s hard to differentiate between building comments and comments that is only an emotion.

Even the videos with the best quality and good content, got shot by the keyboard warriors.

I found that it applies on our daily life.

Sometimes, we are afraid of what other peoples think about the thing we are about to do.

Looking at those YouTubers, I saw that they never stops.

As harsh as the comment is.

They keep going. Keep making videos. Until, they have succeeded.

Do it for yourself, not for other people. Because in the end, haters gonna hate.

Disconnect to Reconnect

Recently I just watched a YouTube video :

“You can’t win on Twitter, there’s so much to be able to talk about” – Paul Miller

I started thinking of how much time was spent on Twitter.

Yes, you do sometimes get an answer, but, for how long? 1 hour for a simple answer?

I guess if you change it to brainstorming, you can get like 4 to 5 answer, at least.

So again, after deleting all of my songs (wait, deleting all your songs? Try to read this post), I have decided to stop Twitter and Facebook for a year. Until 27th of September, 2016.

Why Facebook? I don’t know, I just feel like it.

I will share you my experience along the journey of stopping Twitter.

Before I forgot, I just updated my songs with Rhye – Open.
